On my birthday Min made me this bowl of seaweed soup with mussels. Seaweed soup is known as a birthday soup in Korea. So, it was very sweet of him to make seaweed soup for me on my birthday. That's the birthday girl in the background :)
The seaweed soup has several variations, and it can be made with beef, chicken, clams, mussels, or scallops. The how-to-make part can be found in my previous post here.

My birthday is today and I had that soup at my mom's a couple days ago. I also had it after I gave birth to my son. Great soup :-)
I think it is a great soup for any occasion. I heard that once we are grown up, we are supposed to make the soup for mom on our birthday to thank mom. I have yet to do this myself...
